Trafford Rowing Club-Training Plan

All racing crews are provided with training plans throughout the year with the emphasis on getting fit over the winter months in preparation for the summer regattas. Training sessions generally consists of long-distance rowing (low heart rate, both on and off the water), strength training (heavyweights), and circuits (fitness training).  Athletes are also expected to take a number of tests throughout the year to demonstrate improvements in strength and fitness.

The training plans are developed by the Head Coach in conjunction with Lydia Birch from British Rowing.  The club also has a number of British Rowing coaches, qualified to UKCC Level 2 standard, to provide technical coaching to crews on the water.

The men’s and women’s squads consist of senior squad and a development squads depending on experience, commitment, and availability.

All potential new members, including experienced oarsmen, coxes or coaches, should read the Membership Enquiries, then email the Captain for more information if required. At present, anyone new to the sport and wanting to learn how to row at Trafford RC must register on one of our RowStart courses via our website.
