Race Review - The Scullers Head 2008
Ron Potter (aged 65), won the Men's Veteran G single sculls at the annual Scullers Head, held on the River Thames Championship Course from Mortlake to Putney. Ron has taken part in the annual race for many years, but this is clearly his best result on the choppy waters of the Tideway.
Ron completed the four and a quater mile course in 25 minutes 19 secconds, almost 50 seconds ahead of the 2nd place sculler from home club Auriol Kensington. The result is a first win on the Tideway for Ron, and as far as we're aware, Trafford RC.
Ron's partner in crime, Steve Thompson, also competed at the event and completed the course in 24 minutes and 5 seconds, finishing 12th in the Men's Veteran D single sculls.
Many beers will have been consumed in celebration of this result!
